Los números ordinales en español.

The "ordinal numbers" are those that are used to denote the order of the noun that they refer to - first, second, third, etc. The ordinal numbers in Spanish are adjectives that have to agree with their noun in both gender and number.

Example: El segundo piso, la segunda puerta, los segundos hijos, las segundas hijas

Spanish Ordinal Numbers One to Ten

<p class=The forms of 1st and 3rd are slightly irregular when they come before a singular masculine noun. These are "primer" and "tercer". For example: El primer lugar y el tercer niño.

<p class=Note that 11th and 12th can also be written "undécimo" and "duodécimo"

 

Another form of abbreviating the ordinal number is to use the Roman numerals - I II III IV V VI etc.

It is also acceptable to write these ordinals as two words - décimo cuarto, décimo séptimo, etc
